After suffering a tough defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 205, in New York (USA), Michael Johnson there is no doubt: the Russian is the best fighter in the lightweight division and has favoritism against the current champion of the category, Conor McGregor.

In an exclusive interview to SUPER FIGHTS, Johnson declared that Nurmagomedov is capable of winning the 70 kg belt, but was skeptical about the fight between the Russian and the Irishman. “Khabib wins. I don’t know if they’re going to fight, so we’ll have to wait and see,” he said. “Congratulations to Conor, he’s a great champion, but he’s not going to defend that belt anytime soon.”

Despite being dominated in the November 12th event, Johnson sees himself ready to turn things around and win the division title in the future. “I left there without any injuries, without suffering much damage. So now I can recover and get back to training. He [Nurmagomedov] definitely made me an even hungrier fighter, so that’s the best I can get out of this fight,” he analyzed. “I still think I'm one of the best in the world. I lost to that guy, but that's it. No guy in the division is going to do that to me and he’s a different guy. But I think I'm still one of the best and I'll have that belt with me soon,” he added.
