The new owners of the UFC are already beginning to indicate small changes in the management of their events. The organization announced its first commitments for 2017 with a new addition: a “second line” show on Super Bowl weekend.

Traditionally, the UFC holds large events the day before the final of the NFL, the American football league. An example was what happened in February 2011, with Anderson Silva x Vitor belfort at UFC 126.
However, in 2017, the event will be a Fight Night event, broadcast on North American cable TV and will feature fewer high-profile names in its main fights. The show in question will be held in the city of Houston, in the state of Texas (USA), on February 4th. No fights have yet been made official for the event.
Interestingly, in 2016 the UFC also held a Fight Night during the Super Bowl, but not in a planned way. Originally, Cain Velazquez would face Fabricio Werdum at UFC 196, but the American was injured and the fight was cancelled. Without the fight for the heavyweight belt, the show changed its name and became part of the Fight Night line, with Stephen Thompson x John hendricks in his main fight.
Another event announced for the beginning of 2017 will take place in Phoenix, in the United States, on January 15th. The show will also be from the Fight Night line. To date, no numbered event (broadcast on pay-per-view in the US) has been scheduled for next year.
