After much controversy about Herb Dean interrupting the fight between Dan Henderson Fedor Emelianenko, held last Saturday, in the main attraction of Strikefoce, the central referee of the fight gave his opinion on the attitude. The action declared the third consecutive defeat in the career of Fedor, considered the greatest heavyweight in the history of MMA. For the duel mediator, his action was correct.
“If I see again that a fighter is face down on the ground receiving punches, I will go in and stop the fight,” said Dean, this Monday, to the North American website MMA Junkie. “I can’t predict how long he will be unconscious,” he added. Herb also made a point of pointing out that the fact that Fedor regained consciousness and tried to defend himself during the stoppage does not eliminate the technical knockout.
“The fight ends when he is unconscious,” he said. “If he comes back quickly after I've already seen him and stopped the fight, I can't restart the fight”, concluded Herb Dean.
