Dissatisfied with his situation within the UFC, José Aldo explores his alternatives if he actually leaves the main MMA organization on the planet. This time, the interim featherweight champion stated that returning to jiu-jitsu could be his next professional step.

Aldo was largely unhappy with some decisions made recently by the UFC. The Brazilian hoped to have a rematch with Conor McGregor for the definitive title of the category, but instead saw the Irishman being selected to challenge Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight belt.
Thus, Aldo asked to be removed from the UFC so that he could follow his path, which would not happen in the world of MMA. Returning to origins is an option. “I came from jiu-jitsu, if I can be living it again tomorrow, competing, on a daily basis, that will be good for me. But I'll take it one step at a time. First I will sit down with them and make the right decision,” he said, in an interview with the “SporTV” channel.
Regardless of which path he will follow, Aldo assured that he has not changed his mind about his retirement. “I'm certain that I don't want this anymore, it's something I'm very clear about. But let's look at the negotiation, what's best for both me and them. May this all turn around”, he added.
Aldo hasn't fought since July this year, when he crashed Frankie Edgar at UFC 200. Before that, he was defeated by McGregor in just 13 seconds, which cost him the division belt.
