The Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) announced this Monday (10) the punishment for Conor McGregor, responsible for starring, alongside Nate diaz, a “war” of water bottles and cans during the pre-UFC 202 press conference last August. The Irishman was fined US$150 (around R$525), in addition to 50 hours of community service and a commitment to developing an anti-bullying campaign in partnership with NAC. Nate has not yet been heard, but the American's trial date should be announced soon.

Conor did not attend the meeting, claiming to be training in Ireland – he faces Eddie Alvarez in the main fight of UFC 205, on November 12, in New York – and was represented by a lawyer there. However, he participated in the hearing by telephone and apologized for the episode, stating that he had merely reacted to the provocations.

“I acted wrongly, I apologize, it was a very unusual situation. Bottles started to be thrown towards me, I just stood up and reacted. I was very irritated by the episode, I would really like to apologize. It was a huge fight, the biggest payment of my life, my emotions ended up taking over me and I can only apologize. I wasn't trying to protect members of the media, I was just retaliating for the bottles that were thrown at me and my team – declared the fighter, also stating that he would agree with any punishment imposed by the NAC”, said McGregor, over the phone.

The fighter's speech, however, did not convince commissioner Pat Lundvall, who stated that McGregor's fine should have been higher, mainly because he had put the safety of people present at the location at risk. It was then decided that the fine would be US$150 (R$525), plus 50 hours of community service and the fighter's commitment to developing an anti-bullying campaign in partnership with the entity.
