The world of MMA suffers a new loss in 2016. UFC middleweight division fighter Josh Samman died this Wednesday (5), almost a week after being hospitalized in serious condition in Hollywood, Florida (USA). He was 28 years old.

Last Thursday (September 29), Samman was found unconscious in his apartment alongside a friend. The ambulance arrived at the scene and transported the fighter, in serious condition, to the hospital. The friend, however, had already passed away.
Samman remained hospitalized in a coma since then, but did not survive and passed away this Wednesday morning. The announcement was made by a training partner of the fighter on his Instagram account.
Initially, it was suspected that Samman and his friend had overdosed on heroin, but the fighter's mother revealed that no trace of the drug was found in his system. Doctors have not yet released his official cause of death.
Samman had been a UFC fighter since 2013, when he participated in TUF 17. In the main organization on the planet, he had three wins and two losses. One of his triumphs had a touch of drama: he knocked out Eddie Gordon with a kick to the head at UFC 181, on December 6, 2014. Samman's death is yet another among the many tragedies involving MMA figures in 2016.
