The paulista Edward Pamplona is the youngest Brazilian to join the Strikeforce fighter squad. The welterweight was confirmed today (21) on the preliminary card of Strikeforce Challengers 16, where he will face the North American Jerron peoples, this Friday (24), in his debut for the Californian organization.
Pamplona will be looking for his tenth consecutive victory in his career, in which he is undefeated since 2007. The tough 35-year-old is coming off a technical knockout (punches) victory over North American Joe Bunch at BUCB – Star and Stripes, which took place in April this year.
Peoples has only one fight as a professional. The North American started his career with a technical knockout victory over Mexican Tony Gianopoulos at Respect in the Cage, held on the 4th.
Strikeforce Challengers 16 will be headlined by a clash between lightweights Expensive Fodor e James Terry. Also noteworthy is the presence of Ryan couture, son of UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture, who will look to earn his third victory in his undefeated MMA record. Check out the full show card below:
