However, this Monday, in an interview with USA Today, Carwin said the fight only resumed because he denied to the doctor that he was having difficulty seeing.
“In the second round, I knew I was in trouble. It was impossible to breathe through my nose, my eyes were full of blood and Junior (Cigano) kept coming at me. When the referee stopped the fight in the third round, I thought it was over,” said Carwin, who recounted his conversation with the doctor.
“When the doctor entered the octagon, I knew he was going to ask me if I could continue the fight. I knew I was in trouble, without seeing anything, but all I needed was one punch (to knock out Cigano). I wanted to continue the fight and I said I had a good vision to continue”, he added the heavyweight.
The courage of Shane carwin, however, could have caused a serious injury. In the first tests carried out after the fight, he was diagnosed with a broken nose and a possible orbital fracture in his face.
