Video: Nick Diaz appears smoking marijuana with movie star

The Diaz brothers are definitely peculiar figures in the world of MMA. This time the controversy is due to Nick Diaz, Nate's older brother, who appeared in a video smoking a huge marijuana cigarette alongside actor Tommy Chong, known for starring in a series in which he portrays two musicians who are fans of the forbidden herb. In the video, Nick is filmed lighting and smoking the cigarette, before passing it to the actor.

It is important to highlight that according to the rules of USADA (US Anti-Doping Agency), responsible for controlling substances in Ultimate, the use of marijuana is only prohibited during the competition period, between 12 hours before the fight and 12 hours after. Outside of competition, the entity does not look for the presence of this drug in the athletes' bodies, as it considers them to be “recreational drugs”, which do not influence the athletes' performance during combat.

Nick Diaz hasn't fought since January 2015, when he was defeated by Anderson Silva in the unanimous decision of the judges, in a fight that marked the return of the “Spider” after a serious injury to his left leg. After the fight, Nick was found in an exam to have marijuana in his system. For being a repeat offender, he received a five-year suspended sentence, later reduced to 18 months, a period that ended last August. There is still no prediction of his return to the Octagon.
