Conor McGregor has not given up on the idea of fighting for the lightweight belt at UFC 205, an event that will take place on November 12th, in New York, in the United States. The featherweight champion is injury-free and ready to face Eddie Alvarez on the show.

The information was given by the North American website “MMA Fighting”. At the beginning of the week, rumors emerged that McGregor would not be able to accept a fight in New York as he was still recovering from a leg injury suffered in the fight against Nate diaz at the end of August. However, the Irishman has now recovered from the injury and is participating normally in his training routine.

Despite his desire, the fight between McGregor and Alvarez does not seem close to happening at the moment. UFC President Dana White recently confirmed that Khabib Nurmagomedov should be Alvarez's next opponent, in a fight that would take place at UFC 206, in December.

McGregor won the UFC featherweight belt in December last year, when he knocked out José Aldo. A few months later, the Irishman would challenge the then lightweight champion, Rafael dos Anjos, with the aim of winning a second belt. The Brazilian was injured and was replaced in the fight by Nate diaz, which started a rivalry between the two that has a victory for each side.
