The Brazilian representatives did well in the first fights of UFC 203, an event held this Saturday night (10), in Cleveland, in the United States. Bethe Correia overcame the home fighter Jessica Eye and won again in the octagon, while Jessica Stacker went over Joanne calderwood and got closer to the dream fight for the belt.

Bethe, who hadn't won in the octagon since 2014, fought a balanced but technically unattractive duel against Eye. In the end, to the sadness of the fans present in the gym, the Brazilian prevailed in a split decision from the judges.

Bate-Estaca, in turn, showed once again that he is here to stay in the strawweight category. The woman from Paraná didn't give Calderwood a chance and finished the fight in the first round.

Another representative from Brazil on the preliminary card, Gaius Monster did not have the same performance and ended up defeated by Brad Tavares. Francimar Bodão, who was due to face CB Dollaway, saw the fight canceled at the last minute after an injury to his rival.

First Brazilian to enter the Octagon at UFC 203, Gaius Monster was unable to impose his game against Brad Tavares and suffered his second consecutive defeat in the organization.

Caio, a jiu-jitsu specialist, seemed to have a well-defined strategy: feint in his striking against the Hawaiian and take the fight to the ground as soon as possible. The plan partially worked in the first round, when the Brazilian used the clinch as a tool to prevent Tavares from applying his kickboxing.

From the second round onwards, Tavares found the distance and, with the Brazilian gradually tiring, he began to find himself. In the final round, the North American landed the best shots and showed he had done enough to win the decision.

As a result, Tavares temporarily put an end to his bad form, as he had lost three of his last four fights until then. Monstro, in turn, was coming off a defeat to Josh Samman; before that, he had achieved four consecutive triumphs.

Bethe overcomes Eye and wins again in the UFC

Even in enemy territory, Bethe Correia got the better of the local athlete Jessica Eye in the judges' decision and recovered from a period of poor results within the UFC.

The duel took place entirely through striking. The North American managed to find her game well in the first round, with good blows that opened cuts on the Brazilian's face. However, from the second round onwards, Bethe started to find her distance and bother her rival with her hands.

In the final stretch of the fight, Bethe managed to combine good jabs with the use of the clinch to avoid the North American's threats. In the end, the Brazilian won in a split decision.

Bethe hasn't won since August 2014, when she beat Shayna Baszler. After that, she fell to Ronda Rousey fighting for the belt and to Rachel Pennington; Now Jessica is sinking in the UFC: it was her fifth defeat in seven fights in the Octagon.

The one from Paraná Jessica Stacker showed once again that she is here to stay in the UFC's women's straw division. The fighter didn't give her a chance Joanne calderwood and won with a beautiful submission in the first round.

Upon noticing the Scottish woman's great wingspan, Jessica immediately took the fight to the ground. There, she worked with blows to her rival's face and body, in addition to making great moves when passing guard several times.

Towards the end of the round, Calderwood tried to get up in desperation. The Brazilian then took advantage of the gap to land a well-aimed guillotine, which caused her opponent to withdraw shortly afterwards.

It was Jéssica's second consecutive victory since moving down to strawweight. Before, she had beaten the former challenger for the category belt Jessica penne dominantly.
