With just three weeks left until UFC 130, the Brazilian Gleison Tibau was called this Friday (06) to join the preliminary card of the show. On the 28th, the fighter will face the Polish Bart Palaszewski by replacing the injured Cody MacKenzie in a fight valid for the UFC's lightweight category.
Having worked in the UFC since 2006, Tibau has won three of his last four fights at the event. In his most recent fight, the American Top Team athlete defeated the North American Kurt Pellegrino, in a split decision by the judges, in a confrontation that took place in the 128th edition of the event.
Palaszewski, in turn, will debut in Ultimate after the event's merger with the now-defunct WEC. In his last fight, the Pole was defeated by Iranian Kamal Shalorus at WEC 53, held last December. By facing Tibau, Palaszewski will reach the mark of 50 fights in his career, where he has a record of 35 wins and 14 losses.
UFC 130 will be held in Las Vegas and will feature a fight for the organization's lightweight belt as its main attraction. The champion Frankie Edgar and the challenger Gray Maynard they will highlight the fight that took place in the 125th edition of the event, where the fight between the two ended in a majority draw.
