Former UFC middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold apparently he was serious when he considered, for financial reasons, temporarily taking a break from fighting to dedicate himself to a modeling career. The American revealed that he refused to fight in the organization because the money was “crap”.

Rockhold, champion of the 84 kg division between December 2015 and June this year, said, on his SnapChat account, that he will only return to fights if the financial proposal is more attractive. “A lot of people ask me 'when are you going to fight again?' I have a fight proposal in my inbox, but the money was rubbish. When the money is right, I will be ready to fight,” he said.

In his last fight, still as champion, Rockhold received a declared purse of US$250. A few months later, Conor McGregor it took no less than US$3 million to step into the Octagon at UFC 202.

At 31 years old, Rockhold lost his belt when he was knocked out by Michael Bisping at UFC 199. The North American was speculated to fight at UFC 205, in New York (USA), but his return has not yet been confirmed.
