The Brazilian Paulo thiago is the newest Tupiniquim athlete scheduled for UFC Rio, also called UFC 134. The BOPE police officer will be in action in the capital of Rio when he faces off against the North American David Mitchell in a clash valid for the welterweight category.
Thiago is looking to recover his career after being defeated in his last two fights in the UFC. The tough guy was defeated by the Norwegian Martin Kampmann, at UFC 115, and by the American Diego Sanches, at UFC 121, and needs a positive result to rule out the possibility of being fired from the organization.
Mitchell was undefeated in his career until his last fight. After 11 consecutive victories, the American was defeated in his UFC debut by his compatriot Anthony Waldburguer at UFC Fight Night 22, which took place last September.
UFC Rio will take place on August 27th and its main attraction will be a middleweight title fight between the current champion Anderson Silva and the challenger Yushin Okami. So far, eight Brazilians have been confirmed on the card for this edition of the event. Check out the clashes below:
