Shogun praises Forrest, but says he is confident for UFC Rio

After losing the UFC light heavyweight belt, Mauricio Shogun is scheduled to return to the octagon at UFC Rio, against the North American Forrest griffin, an opponent who beat the Brazilian in his Ultimate debut in edition number 76 of the show. In conversation with SUPER FIGHTS, during the “UFC Fan Expo”, Shogun talked about how his training for the fight is going.

“I'm already training for this fight. Forrest is a tough guy, but I'm going to be at home, with my family, my fans and that increases my motivation a lot. I'm going to train hard to achieve this victory”, said the Brazilian, who spoke about his training in the United States, with master Rafael Cordeiro.

“In fact, training with master Rafael Cordeiro changes a lot of things in preparation. He was my master from white belt to black belt and I didn't have an MMA teacher like my master. Rafael will coordinate all my preparation and training. For me, this way, it’s perfect”, added Shogun, who did not stop talking about the immense harassment he suffered in Toronto.

"That is great! I even joke that when I go to the United States or Canada I'm treated like a 'pop star'. Our work is highly recognized here, but in Brazil this is already changing, who knows, maybe one day it will be like this”, he said.

The fight between Mauricio Shogun e Forrest griffin is on the main card of UFC 134, also called UFC Rio, an event that is scheduled to take place on August 27th, at the HSBC Arena, in the capital of Rio de Janeiro
