Maiquel Falcão faces American from UFC Rio

Recovered from an injury that kept him away from the Octagon since November last year, Maiquel Falcao is another Brazilian athlete confirmed for Ultimate's return to Brazil, in the 134th edition of the show, also called UFC Rio. The fighter will face off against the North American Tom lawlor, in a fight valid for the middleweight category. According to several foreign websites, both competitors have verbally agreed on the fight and a formal agreement is about to take place.

Falcão returns to the Octagon after his successful debut in the organization at UFC 123 against Gerald Harris. The Brazilian won by unanimous decision from the judges and increased his undefeated streak to nine fights. The North American, who participated in the eighth edition of “The Ultimate Fighter”, the UFC reality show, is looking for his second consecutive victory. In his last appearance, at UFC 121, Lawlor emerged victorious against Canadian Patrick Côte.

UFC 134 will take place on August 27th at the HSBC Arena, in Rio de Janeiro, and is the first event on Brazilian soil since 1998. There are now six Brazilians in action at the event, which will have as its main fight the ninth defense of the UFC belt. Anderson Silva, against Japanese Yushin Okami.
