Thirteen fights undefeated, eight belt defenses and a record number of consecutive victories in the UFC. This is the look back at the middleweight champion Anderson Silva in almost five years as a fighter in the Ultimate. The Brazilian's next challenge is scheduled for August 27th, at UFC Rio, where Anderson will put his title up for grabs against the Japanese fighter Yushin Okami in the main fight of the night.

Despite the numbers, the Brazilian denies the invincible label and emphasizes that the sequence of positive results in his career is just the result of serious work carried out together with his team. In a video conference broadcast on his Twitter profile, Anderson stressed that there are gaps in his game and that they could appear during the rematch against Okami, who already defeated him in 2006 at Rumble on the Rock 8.

“I’m not unbeatable. I've been through situations that demonstrated this. I train hard to do a good job, but at any moment I could be defeated”, said the champion.

Despite Anderson's record making him the clear favorite against the Japanese, the tough guy maintains his humility, highlighting that such dominance in the category could favor Okami, as his fighting style can be studied in more detail by his opponent. The Tupiniquim athlete also stressed that he feels happy to be remembered as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters today, however he believes he must be tested more often to reach that position.

“Maybe I will become the next victim. There is still a lot to do before I can be called a living legend of MMA”, concluded Anderson.
