The film seems repeated: Demian Maia takes down the opponent, gets to his back and finishes without difficulty. That's exactly what the Brazilian did to the North American Carlos Condit in the main fight of UFC Vancouver, event held this Saturday (27), in Canada.

With the result, Demian achieved the most significant victory of his career, he was moved to tears and scored his sixth triumph in the series. The good run made the Brazilian demand a shot at the welterweight (up to 77 kg) belt.

In addition to Demian, Brazil had two representatives at the show. In the second most important fight of the night, Charles of the Bronx put up a tough fight, but ended up submitted by Anthony Pettis, while on the preliminary card Felipe Silva debuted in the UFC with the right foot. He knocked out Shane Campbell in the first round.

Afraid of being knocked down, Condit avoided entering the range of action and set the distance with front kicks, without putting the Brazilian at risk. In Demian's first attack, the São Paulo native grabbed the American's leg and took the fight to the ground.

Maia quickly dominated his rival, reaching half guard and his back. After passing the hooks, Demian secured the rear naked choke and forced Condit to give up the fight with just over a minute.

“I think it's six consecutive victories, and this guy is one of the best fighters in the world, he's a former champion of the division, he knocks out everyone. I have all the respect for him, I knew it would be a tough fight. I'm very happy and I think that now I've finally got a chance at the title”, says Demian.

Anthony Pettis promised and fulfilled. After losing the lightweight belt and accumulating three series defeats in the category, 'Showtime' went down to the featherweight division and guaranteed that 'the show would return'. And that's exactly what he did in front of the Brazilian Charles of the Bronx. Pettis showed his entire arsenal of kicks and even without avoiding the São Paulo native's takedowns, he reversed all positions and even finished the contest with a guillotine choke.

The Brazilian, knowing the danger of fighting on the feet against Pettis, looked for a takedown in the first second of the fight. He attacked the legs of the North American, who defended himself at first, but ended up being knocked down afterwards.

On the ground, Charles reached Anthony's back, but the American reversed his position, left the ground and started the show. With two strong kicks to the ribs, the Brazilian fell and suffered some punches from his rival. Still feeling the blows, Oliveira desperately tried takedowns, but to no avail. Do Bronx just fought to stay alive in the dispute at the end of the first half.

In the second round, Pettis started better and connected several shots on the Brazilian. But Charles managed to find a takedown after dodging a lunge. From the Bronx he got to his back, tried to lock in the rear naked choke, but the North American got out of the choke very easily and reversed the position afterwards. Charles still managed a takedown at the end of the partial, but without time to strike.

In the third round, history repeated itself. Charles took the initiative, got the takedown and quickly got to the back. However, once again, he lost position without attempting the choke and allowed Pettis to get up. In an attempt to take down Anthony once again, the Brazilian left his neck exposed and 'Showtime' applied the guillotine, forcing him to withdraw at 1m19s of the third round.

“He sold the defeat very dearly. I had to adjust as the fight went on. I know I have skills, I can face anyone on the ground or standing up. I’m here for just one thing: the belt,” says Pettis in the post-fight interview.

'UFC sweetheart' wins and recovers

The beauty paige vanzant is back. After being massacred by Rose namajunas, in December, and participating in the program 'Dança dos Famosos' in the USA, the blonde managed to recover from the setback in style. VanZant fought a high-octane duel against Australian Bec Rawlings and ended the contest in a surprising way.

Paige found it difficult in the first round. Despite good movement, the North American didn't land her blows and suffered from her rival's attacks. However, everything changed in the first seconds of the second round.

As soon as the duel resumed, VanZant took a beautiful shot out of the hat. She applied a blow in two stages, with one leg hitting the waistline and the other hitting her rival squarely in the face. Rawlings went to the ground and with a few punches on the ground, the referee declared a technical knockout.
