Current UFC light heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier guaranteed that his next belt defense will be against Anthony Johnson, who knocked out Glover Teixeira in just 13 seconds last Saturday (20).

On his Twitter account, “DC” stated that, for now, his rivalry with Jon Jones will remain in the background. “I’m not fighting Jones next. I'll fight 'Rumble'. He's here and he deserved it. He [Jones] won't show up. Something will happen. We had a fight scheduled four times and only fought once. I need some time,” wrote the American.

In April, Jones won the interim belt in the category, which would give him the right to challenge the current champion. That was supposed to happen at UFC 200 last month, but Jones failed a drug test and was removed from the fight.

Asked by a follower if the fact that Jones was the interim champion of the category would not make the fight mandatory, Cormier made a revelation. “He is no longer [interim champion]. And I have more say in the decision than people think,” he responded.

Although the UFC has not officially announced anything, Jones' name no longer appears as interim champion in the organization's rankings. Jones, the only tormentor of Cormier's professional MMA career, failed a test using estrogen blockers and is temporarily suspended.
