Conor McGregor claims to have acted to defend himself in the general confusion that marked the press conference to promote UFC 202, last Wednesday (17), in Las Vegas (USA).

The Irishman and his rival from Saturday (20), Nate diaz, led to confusion that involved several thrown bottles and cans. According to McGregor, his attitude was just a response to Diaz's attacks.

“We are here to fight. We are ready for war. So, let's see. I only saw bottles being thrown. Then I thought 'f*** it, do you want to throw bottles? I'm going to throw cans'. But it was all to defend myself. I feared for my life”, reported the UFC featherweight champion, in an interview with the “SportsCenter” program, on the North American “ESPN”.

The fighter once again expressed dissatisfaction with the excessive media commitments during the week of the fight. “That's why you saw what you saw. I'm here to fight, not to talk and participate in those stupid press conferences they want me to participate in. You need to do what is right for you, not for others. So, it was something I said to myself: it's time for me to focus on doing what I came to do. I didn't come here to do anything other than fight”, commented the athlete, who was cut from UFC 200 in July, precisely because he refused to participate in a press conference.

The rematch between Diaz and McGregor will be the main attraction of UFC 202. In the first clash, the American won by submission in the second round.
