The Dutchman believes that his rival enjoyed life to excess in the months after winning the title. Miocic knocked out the then champion of the category, Fabricio Werdum, in May, and has since been widely celebrated in his hometown of Cleveland (USA), where UFC 203 will also be held.
In an interview with “The MMA Hour” podcast, Overeem highlighted that he does not have any type of animosity with Miocic, but that he sees himself as better prepared to win. “I didn’t have any problems with him. We didn't spend much time together. But to be honest, I think Stipe is a good guy. We will compete against each other, it will be a matter of business. But he's on a roll: he's Cleveland's hero, he's celebrating, he's married. He's having a party. But I have a message: the wolf that is hungry runs faster than the wolf that is at the top of the mountain, resting with a full belly. That's what I see happening. He is enjoying life, but I am working”, he compared.
Miocic, 33 years old, is coming off knockout victories over Mark Hunt, Andrei Arlovski and Werdum. Overeem, three years older, fought in his last fights Stefan struve, Roy Nelson, junior gypsy and the same Arlovski.
