Shogun: “I see this fight as the fight of my life”

The Brazilian Mauricio Shogun UFC 128, an event that takes place next Saturday (19), will be the biggest challenge of his career. The current UFC light heavyweight champion will defend his belt against the North American revelation Jon Jones, who despite being a challenger is considered the favorite on the betting exchanges.

Away from fighting since May last year, due to a knee injury, Shogun guarantees his dedication to achieving the first defense of his Ultimate belt.

“I see this fight as the fight of my life. I put everything in my life to get this belt. I stay away from my family, away from my friends, I stop living to focus 100% on the fight”, says the Brazilian, who is full of praise for his opponent, who was considered MMA's biggest revelation in 2010.

“I was Pride GP champion at 23 years old (the same age as my challenger) and the Jon Jones It reminds me a lot of my story: young and fighting for a belt, but I'm going to do everything to make sure he doesn't win”, said the black belt. “If I were to point out something top in his game it would be wrestling, and Muay Thai, despite not having much punch (knockout power) he keeps getting in touch and bothering him. But I’m definitely paying attention to that now”, concluded Shogun.
