Cyborg: “I want to beat Diaz and then face Mousasi and Manhoef”

The Brazilian Cyborg Evangelist will compete for the Strikeforce welterweight belt this Saturday (29), against the current champion Nick Diaz. The athlete from the Chute Boxe team guarantees that, despite his main characteristic being stand-up fighting and his opponent's ground fighting, he does not feel intimidated by his opponent's jiu-jitsu. In an interview with the North American website MMA Weekly, Cyborg guarantees that he can surprise Diaz and win the duel wherever it takes place.

“I train every day waiting for a fight, the opponent is never my objective. When I found out I would fight Nick (Diaz), I just adapted my strategy to his game”, said Cyborg, who guaranteed he had enough weapons to defeat the American on the ground.

“Nobody really saw my ground game. I have a great wrestling base and I have a black belt in jiu-jitsu. I'm not worried about keeping the fight going, I want to show that I have an underrated ground game and I'm going to show my jiu-jitsu”, said the Brazilian, who after this weekend's clash wants to face the Armenian Gegard Mousasi and have a rematch against the Dutch Melvin manhoef, with whom he has already fought one of the most exciting fights in the history of MMA.

“I'm very confident if the fight goes to the ground. When I take this belt, I want to face Gegard Mousasi and Melvin Manhoef, in any weight category”, he said.

The duel between Cyborg and Manhoef took place at Cage Rage 15, an event held in 2006, and is considered one of the most competitive and exciting fights in the history of MMA, where the Dutchman won by technical knockout at the end of the second round. Check out the video of the fight below:
