On August 20, Demian Maia will have to go through what is possibly the last step before challenging for the UFC welterweight belt. The São Paulo native will face Carlos Condit on the UFC 202 schedule, an event that will take place in the city of Las Vegas, in the United States.
The Brazilian comes from five consecutive victories, including “tours” against Neil Magny, Gunnar Nelson and Matt Brown. The positive results placed him in third place in the official ranking of the 77 kg division.
Condit, former interim champion of the category, last fought in January of this year, when he ended up losing to the current title holder, Robbie Lawler. At the time, the athletes fought a fierce battle, and, for many, Condit came out on top in the duel.
The main fight of UFC 202 will be between Conor McGregor e Nate diaz, valid for the welterweight division. The event will also have Glover Teixeira x Anthony Johnson e Donald Cerrone x Rick Story.
