McGregor, Lawler and Holm compete for North American magazine award

Champions compete in the 'Best Fighter' category, while Holm is named 'Surprise of the Year' for knockout over Ronda

Conor McGregor, Robbie Lawler e Holly holm will be the representatives of MMA at the ESPY Awards, organized annually by “ESPN” magazine in the United States.

UFC featherweight and welterweight champions, respectively, McGregor and Lawler compete in the “Best Fighter” category, alongside boxers Gennady Golovkin, Canelo Alvarez placeholder image and Roman Gonzalez. The Irishman is also competing in the “Newcomer of the Year” category, against Jake Arrieta (baseball), Chloe Kim (Snowboarding) and Karl-Anthony Towns (basketball).

PUBLICITY:

Holm is competing in the “Surprise of the Year” category for his knockout over Ronda Rousey at UFC 193, in November last year. Its competitors are Roberta Vinci's victory over Serena Williams in the US Open tennis tournament, and Middle Tennessee's triumph over Michigan State in the North American college basketball championship.

Winners will be chosen through public voting, which can be done on the official website of the awards. Votes will be tallied until July 13th, the date on which the ESPY Awards will be held.
