The city of Killeen, in the United States, hosted UFC Fight Night 22 on Saturday night (23), an event also known as UFC Fight for the Troops 2, as the show sought to raise donations for North American soldiers who suffered injuries brains in the wars against Afghanistan and Iraq. The fight program featured the participation of three Brazilians and only the black belt Rani Yaya managed to bring victory to Brazilian lands. Against the former WEC champion Mike Brown, the Brasilia native dominated the confrontation and emerged victorious in the unanimous decision of the judges. Already Amilcar Alves e Willamy Chiquerim were surpassed by Charlie Brenneman e Waylon Lowe, respectively. In the main fight of the night, valid for the lightweight division, Melvin guillard knocked out Evan dunham in the first round.

In the main fight of the night, Melvin Guillard proved the excellent phase he is experiencing in his career. In the face of the harshest Evan dunham, the “Young Assassin”, as he is known, knocked out his opponent in just 2min:58sec of the fight and scored his fourth consecutive victory. Right at the beginning of the fight, Guillard went on the attack and with strong punches and powerful knees made Dunham lose his balance, Evan desperately tried to attack his legs, but Melvin remained standing and used his knees to punish his opponent, who was to the ground in knockdown. Guillard continued the punishment until the referee ended the fight, declaring a technical knockout. With the triumph, Melvin Guillard asked for the opportunity to fight for the lightweight belt, currently held by Frankie Edgar.

Participating in the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), the UFC's reality show, Matt Mitrione needed just over three minutes to win his fourth career victory and maintain his unbeaten record in MMA. Facing Tim Hague, Mitrione managed to defend his opponent's takedown attempts well and with a powerful straight left, he knocked Hague out.

Tipped to face Brazilian José Aldo for the UFC featherweight belt, Mark hominick He showed that he deserves the opportunity. The Canadian didn't give the American George Roop a chance and knocked out his opponent in just 1min:22sec of the fight. Showing aggression and control in the octagon, Hominick worked with great hand strikes, which made Roop move backwards. With a powerful left cross, Mark knocked George down and ended the fight with another punch, forcing the referee to declare a technical knockout.

Barry beats Beltran

In a fight with two stand-up specialists, Pat Barry and Joey Beltran had a fight without many emotions. While Barry worked with his powerful kicks, Beltran tried to keep the fight in the clinch and apply strikes from close range. After two rounds with a slight advantage for Pat, Joey went on the attack and was better in the third round, however, when he tried to throw a punch, one of Barry's fingers accidentally hit him in the eye. After that, Pat abused his kicks and punished Beltran, who ended the fight with a knockdown. In the end, the three judges gave the victory to Pat Barry.

Wiman fights better and dominates Cole Miller

In the first fight on the main card, Matt wiman put on a show and completely dominated the fight against Cole Miller. After starting the fight at a disadvantage, suffering a tough sequence of punches, Winam showed the courage to recover and work well with consecutive blows, mixing boxing attacks and low kicks. If in the initial round the duel was balanced, in the following two rounds Matt completely dominated the fight. Using combinations in the stand-up fight and forceful ground strikes, Wiman was sovereign and took no risks. Third and last Brazilian to perform at the event, Rani Yaya faced former WEC champion Mike Thomas Brown. Without risking the North American's dangerous striking, the Brazilian black belt worked on his jiu-jitsu, gaining positions in the ground fight and almost submitting at the end of the second round. After the three regulatory rounds, the judges scored Rani's victory in a unanimous decision (30×27, 29×28, 30×27).

Chiquerim makes a bad debut and is defeated
Amilcar's training partner at Nova União, Willamy Chiquerim did not debut in the UFC as expected. The former Shooto champion faced Waylon Lowe and was also defeated in the judges' unanimous decision. The Brazilian was taken down in the first two rounds and kept at the bottom. Despite the reaction in the final round, the three judges scored it 29×28 for Lowe

Amilcar loses and gets complicated in the event
The first Brazilian to enter the Octagon, Amilcar Alves tried to recover from his UFC debut defeat, but the Nova União athlete was unable to emerge victorious again. Facing Charlie Brenneman, the American didn't want to take any chances with striking and worked with takedowns during the three rounds, keeping the Brazilian on the bottom and punishing Amilcar with punches.
