“We changed plans. After the announcement, several people came to talk to me and the reality is that Gray Maynard deserved to win. We wanted to put Pettis as the next challenger, but Gray fought really hard and deserves another chance”, said Dana at the press conference immediately after UFC-125.

If the rematch is confirmed, this will be the third fight between Frankie Edgar e Gray Maynard. In the first confrontation between them, held at UFN-13, in 2008, Maynard defeated Edgar in a unanimous decision by the judges and suffered the only defeat in the champion's career.
