The year 2011 could be remarkable for the Brazilian's career “Cyborg” Evangelist. The fighter will have the chance to win the first belt of his career when he faces the current Strikeforce welterweight champion, Nick Diaz. The confrontation will take place on January 29th, in the United States, in an edition yet to be made official by the event's directors.
“Cyborg” has 18 wins and 13 losses on his record and comes from two consecutive knockout victories in his career. In his last fight, the Brazilian defeated the Lithuanian Marius zaromskis in the first round of the fight held in Strikeforce: Los Angeles, in June this year.
In turn, Diaz will put his belt won last January in contention for the second time, when he knocked out Zaromskis in the first round. Last October, the fighter defeated KJ Noons in his first title defense. The North American was seen as his compatriot's possible next opponent Jason Miller, given the growing rivalry between the two due to disagreements that occurred behind the scenes at Strikeforce.
The card for this edition is still being prepared, but the presence of at least two more Brazilians has already been confirmed. The middleweight champion, Ronaldo “Jacare”, will fight against Robbie Lawler in a fight valid for the category belt, while Roger gracie will take action for the second time in the organization when facing Trevor Prangley.
