UFC featherweight champion, Conor McGregor has seen his name involved in rumors regarding a boxing superfight against Floyd Mayweather, and a video has added even more spice to the issue. The Irishman was seen sparring against professional boxer Chris van Heerden at the Box N Burn gym in California (USA).
Wearing boxing shoes and gloves, McGregor and the South African exchanged blows in the ring. Van Heerden appeared agile with his leg movement, while McGregor, more planted, tried to hunt down his training partner. The video only shows 1min20s of action, but you can get an idea of how McGregor would fare against a professional boxer, as the South African has a record of 23 wins, two losses and one draw.
Evidently, McGregor, like all MMA fighters, also normally focuses on specific boxing training, so it is not uncommon to see him doing training of this type. However, the release of the video draws attention precisely in the week in which Mayweather, who won 49 victories in 49 boxing fights, declared that he “will only come out of retirement if he has to fight McGregor”.
