The 100% Brazilian fight between Ronaldo Jacare e Vitor belfort divided the fans at UFC 198, an event held in the early hours of this Sunday (15), Arena da Baixada, in Curitiba. Jacaré took no notice of his rival and submitted his compatriot in dominant fashion in the first round. The Amazonian's great performance, however, contrasted with Belfort's apathy in the Octagon.

The weak performance of the 'Phenomenon', known for his aggressiveness in the first moments of the fight, was analyzed by his coach Amaury Bitetti. According to the jiu-jitsu black belt Vitor belfort 'fought' in the duel against his compatriot.

“Vitor didn’t fight what we trained. He would never be able to finish Jacaré, only if Jacaré slipped. He was supposed to do the anti-game he was trained in... I don't know if he got tired, if he felt anything. He got stuck,” said Bitetti, in an interview with the Combate channel.

Amaury spared no criticism of his student. According to him, Vitor tried a knee that wasn't planned and didn't even try to punch his rival.

“Vitor started off wrong, throwing a knee, which doesn’t exist. He didn't throw any punches. Vitor joined Jacaré's game. Merit of the opponent, who is a two-time world champion, a samurai. Whoever hesitates, dances”, he added.

The defeat against Jacaré frustrated, once again, Belfort's plans to fight for the UFC belt. The 'Phenomenon', aged 39, has a record of 25 wins and 12 losses.
