Last week, fight fans were surprised by the news that former boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. could return to the ring against none other than the current UFC featherweight champion. Conor McGregor. The information circulated as a rumor over the last few days, but McGregor himself had already confirmed that the fight could happen and now it was Floyd Mayweather's turn to give a positive nod to the super confrontation.

"It's possible. That was a name that came to me. The rumors you are all hearing are the rumors I started. Maybe it's not a rumor. Cross your fingers, maybe this fight between MMA and boxing will happen. Every time I compete at a very high level, my numbers are a hundred million dollars or more. I feel like I can ask for (those kinds of things) because I broke every record in boxing,” Mayweather said.

With an undefeated boxing record, Floyd Mayweather has been retired since last year, when he won his 49th victory as a professional. Already Conor McGregor recently suffered his first defeat in the UFC, against Nate diaz. Despite this, the Irishman remains the organization's linear featherweight champion and will soon put his belt on the line against the winner of the fight between José Aldo e Frankie Edgar at UFC 200.
