UFC-122: Okami beats Marquardt and fights for the title

The UFC held this Saturday (13), in Oberhausen, Germany, the 122nd edition of the promotion. The event, which promoted its second show in German territory, had as its highlight Yushin Okami. The Japanese defeated Nate marquardt, in the main fight of the night, and will have the chance to fight for the middleweight belt. The fight program also featured two Brazilians who made their debut in the organization. Carlos Eduardo “Tá Damado” debuted with the right foot and finished Kris mccaraybut Alexandre Cacareco ended up knocked out by Vladimir Matyushenko.

Okami beats Marquardt and will have a chance to fight for the title
In a very balanced fight, Yushin Okami North American Nate Marquardt beat the judges by decision. With a perfect strategy, the Japanese combined good boxing strikes with an efficient ground game to score points during the fight. Marquardt only had a good moment in the second round, when he managed to land some punches and good positions on the ground. However, Yushin regained control of the fight and with Nate feeling tired, he combined the best blows in the third round. In the end, victory Yushin Okami in the unanimous decision of the judges (29×28, 30×27, 29×28). With the triumph, Okami will have the chance to fight for the middleweight division belt against the winner of the fight between the Brazilians Anderson Silva e Vitor belfort.

In the second round, the Croatian wasted no time and immediately managed a takedown, but with no force on top, the referee ordered the fight to return to the feet and the fight continued for the majority of the time without much emotion. In the last and decisive round, Relij already felt the strong rhythm of the fight and fought just to finish the duel. Soszynski, on the other hand, abused his punches on the ground to win the duel with a unanimous decision from the judges (30×27, 30×27, 30, 27).

Duane Ludwig defeats Nick Osipczak in tough fight
In the first fight on the main card, Duane Ludwig and Nick Osipczak had a balanced duel. At the beginning of the fight, Ludwig connected the best blows, but a strong right cross from the Englishman Osipczak, led to Duane being knocked down, who was punished with ground and pound until the end of the round. In the second round, it was Ludwig's turn to control the duel with striking strikes and score points. In the third and final round Nick already felt the rhythm of the fight and was a fixed target for Duane who connected several blows and won by judges' decision (29×28, 20×29, 29×28)


Cacareco is knocked out by Matyushenko

After almost a year off, Alexandre Cacareco made his long-awaited UFC debut, but unfortunately the Brazilian fighter was unable to finish the fight as he expected. Facing Vladimir Matyushenko, the Brazilian sought a takedown several times, but each time was well defended by the Belarusian, who managed to land on top and work with powerful punches and elbows, forcing the referee to interrupt the duel, declaring a technical knockout.

“Tá Danado” lives up to its nickname and debuts with a submission
In the first fight of the event, Carlos Eduardo “Tá Danado” put on a show against Kris McCray.
