Injury takes Shane Carwin out of UFC-125

The heavy weight Shane carwin was scheduled to face Roy Nelson at UFC-125, but a back injury to the fighter will prevent the fight. This Tuesday, Carwin published a statement on his official website justifying his departure from the card.

“I was really looking forward to fighting again, this injury is very disappointing,” he said. “This was a difficult decision, but I want to win again and I need to be healthy to do so”, added the fighter, justifying his withdrawal from the fight. According to the statement, there is no plan for the athlete to return to the octagon.

“If the doctors don't have to perform surgery, I'll be out for between 8 and 12 weeks, but if I have to operate, I still don't have a return date,” he wrote.

UFC-125 takes place on January 1, 2011 in the city of Las Vegas, United States, and will feature as its main attraction the lightweight title fight between Frankie Edgar e Gray Maynard.
