“I will always be a 'Jungle athlete', regardless of where I've been. So I feel at home. I really enjoyed the experience at First Round Combat (the event in which he had his only fight since leaving Jungle, in April last year), everything was very organized, good scholarships, good athletes and I'm also a great friend of the event's CEO, Carlos Junior ”, commented the Team Nogueira athlete.
Despite the chance to seek another belt, Jonas highlighted that his plan is to sign with a major event abroad, preferably the UFC or the Japanese Rizin – also known as “New PRIDE”. “This script (of winning titles on the national circuit and later moving abroad) applies to any athlete here in Brazil. I can’t describe how much I want an opportunity to fight in a big event, like UFC or Rizin”, he assured.
Finally, Bilharinho also analyzed his opponent in the Jungle Fight 86, Valdines Silva, and made a projection for the fight for the vacant title in the under 66 kg category. “I think he will try to exchange with me, I won't let him feel comfortable with the notion of distance and he will end up wanting to put me down, I will defend his takedown attacks and I will eventually knock him out”, he said.
