Frank Mir guarantees: 'Hunt's punch was, by far, the hardest I've ever received'

Many fans were amazed at how Frank mir he fell and ended up being knocked out with just one punch in the main fight of UFC Brisbane, and some even questioned whether the central referee's interruption had been hasty. However, after praising the judge's performance, Mir went further and explained that Hunt's blow was the most powerful he had ever suffered in his entire life.

“By far, and without a doubt, it was the hardest punch I’ve ever received in my life. As soon as the blow went in, I felt like I was underwater. I saw the lights, but for 10 or 15 seconds I felt everything rotate. The interruption was correct, because even though I could see the lights, I had no idea where the next blows would come from. I wouldn't be able to defend myself from anything that would hit me. My effectiveness, at this point, would be almost none”, said Mir, on the “Phone Booth Fighting” podcast.

Despite this, the former heavyweight champion, who has suffered six defeats in his last eight fights, assured that he is still not thinking about retiring from MMA. “I fought against Mark Hunt and he hit me a very hard blow. It's like being finished by me. There's a list of guys who went through this. If he had passed my guard and submitted me, then I would have thought about retiring. Get knocked out by Mark Hunt or finished by me, it happens to anyone. Nothing against him, he did an excellent job. I made a mistake in an area he is very good at. The margin of error you can have against Hunt is much smaller than against other heavyweights, who can hit you and you can try to recover”, he concluded.
