UFC files legal action against Couture

The UFC took legal action yesterday against one of the organization's biggest names, Hall of Fame member and former champion of the light heavyweight (up to 93kg) and heavyweight (over 93kg) categories, Randy Couture. UFC's legal representatives filed the lawsuit, claiming that Couture was violating the signed contract and causing financial losses to the event.

In addition to the possible fight with the Russian Fedor Emelianenko, in Japan, another aspect that has been bothering Ultimate's management is the fact that Randy's academy, Xtreme Couture, is one of the teams for the next IFL season.

“What is hardest for me is that we have been friends for a long time and he is not fulfilling his obligations. I tried to resolve the problem by talking to the guy I had a relationship with for eight years, but I was unsuccessful. Captain America is not keeping his word and now things are in the hands of the judicial system,” said UFC President Dana White.
