After leaving the UFC and signing with XFC, Fábio Maldonado returned to boxing, before re-debuting on the national MMA circuit. The return of the “Caipira de Aço” to the ring took place last Saturday (27), against Robson Bambu, at the Combat Club gym, in São Paulo (SP).
The duel, however, ended controversially. With an advantage in the confrontation, Maldonado managed a knockdown hard on his rival, who went to the ground. However, the fight referee did not open the count, as expected, and simply interfered, interrupting the fight and declaring Fábio the winner.
Now, Maldonado remains undefeated in boxing, with 23 victories in 23 fights, 96% of them by knockout or technical knockout. Robson Bambu, who has a history in Muay Thai, has had one win and one loss as a boxer. The “Caipira de Aço” debut in XFC will take place on March 19th, against Andrew Smith.
