Former UFC featherweight champion, José Aldo intends to return to fighting in style. The Brazilian wants to be part of the historic UFC 200 event, which will be held on July 9th this year, in Las Vegas, in the United States.
“I want to fight at UFC 200. It's a historic edition, a big event, and I would like to be part of it”, revealed the Brazilian, in an interview with the podcast “The MMA Hour”, on the North American website “MMA Fighting”.
Aldo had the chance to return to the Octagon long before that. The fighter was called up by the UFC to face, at the last minute, Conor McGregor at UFC 196, this Saturday (5). However, Aldo denied the invitation and explained why: “Any professional fighter needs time to train. It's not a fight where I go there and put my rooster to fight. It's a high level sport, I go there to do my job. When I have time to train, the fight can happen anytime, anywhere,” he clarified.
Aldo is coming off a defeat to McGregor, with a knockout suffered in just 13 seconds. It was the Brazilian's first negative result in more than ten years.
