The boxing coach of Nate diaz, Richard Perez, believes that his pupil will do Conor McGregor “look silly” in his striking in the main fight of UFC 196, next Saturday (March 5).
In every fight he has had in the UFC so far, McGregor has shown great standing skills, knocking out six of the seven opponents he has faced in the Octagon. However, Perez predicts not only an advantage for Diaz in the fight, but a reality check for the Irishman.
“McGregor is a good striker. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he isn't, but Nate is better. When Nate follows his strategy, he will make McGregor look foolish”, said the coach, in an interview with the “Submission Radio” podcast. “As far as striking goes, Nate is much better when he is in good shape, without injury. When fight night comes, McGregor is going to be shocked.”
McGregor and Diaz will be in the main fight of UFC 196, this Saturday. Even though he is the featherweight champion (up to 66 kg), the Irishman agreed to fight two divisions higher, in the welterweight category (up to 77 kg).
