Friday night (19) will be special for the most nostalgic fight fans. Royce gracie and Ken Shamrock, two of the most legendary fighters of all time will live the third chapter of a long rivalry at Bellator 149, an event to be held in Houston, Texas (USA).

The term “legendary” is not an exaggeration to describe the two. Royce was the first UFC champion when the fight was still in a tournament format, surprising everyone by defeating, using jiu-jitsu, much bigger opponents. The Brazilian became one of the greats by finishing in all of his first 11 fights in what was then called “Vale-Tudo”.
Shamrock also left his mark on the early days of the sport. The outstanding results in his fights over the past decades have earned him the nickname “Most Dangerous Man in the World”.
The two faced each other twice more than 20 years ago, still in the early days of the UFC. In the first duel, in November 1993, Royce put his feared jiu-jitsu into practice to finish with a rear naked choke in just 57 seconds. A year and a half later, the two drew after a long battle in the octagon, which lasted 36 minutes. There, for the first time, Royce ended a fight without being able to submit an opponent.
From then on, the two followed different paths. Royce only had seven more fights, and the Brazilian hasn't performed regularly for some time. Shamrock, on the other hand, remained more active, fighting in events such as PRIDE, Cage Rage and in the UFC itself.
The third duel aims to put an end to the “grandpas” rivalry (Royce is 49 years old, Shamrock, 52). Even though they are both more than two decades older since they last came face to face, it is still a unique opportunity to see two legends in action.
