The UFC acted quickly and found a replacement for John Lineker at UFC Fight Night 83, an event that will take place this Sunday (21) in Pittsburgh, United States. One Brazilian leaves, another enters: debutant Augusto Tanquinho is the new opponent of cody garbrandt in the bantamweight fight.
Lineker left the fight at short notice after contracting dengue fever. As much as the Paraná native asked for the duel to be rescheduled, Ultimate chose to choose a new opponent for Garbrandt.
Tanquinho is a multi-time jiu-jitsu world champion and recently signed a contract with the UFC. His debut would be in January, when he would also replace another injured athlete, but he himself was injured before the fight. His MMA record is five wins in five fights.
Garbrandt is a promise from the Team Alpha Male team. He is also undefeated in professional MMA, with seven wins in seven fights – two of them in the UFC.
