Earlier this week, the head coach of Ronda Rousey, Edmond Tarverdyan, was once again the target of harsh criticism from the fighter's mother, AnnMaria de Mars, who accused him of being “a fraud” as a coach and of harming her daughter's performance.
However, Tarverdyan made light of it and stressed that his relationship with Ronda is not shaken after AnnMaria's words. “It’s just her opinion. I'm here to coach Ronda, and her [her mother's] opinion doesn't matter. Ronda knows who I am: I’m her coach, and that’s all,” countered the coach, in an interview with the “TMZ Sports” website.
This, in fact, was not the first time that Ronda's mother criticized Tarverdyan's work. Even before the North American defeat to Holly holm, AnnMaria, former world judo champion, declared that her daughter would have a much more efficient performance inside the octagon if she looked for another coach.
