Even with little preparation time, the North American has full confidence that he will provide the Brazilian with an unprecedented challenge in his career.

Velasquez would have a rematch with Werdum for the UFC heavyweight belt, but ended up suffering a back injury in the final stretch of his training. Thus, Miocic was selected to challenge the Brazilian, whom he considers to be a worthy opponent. “He’s a tough guy. He's the champion, he's beaten the best guys in the world, he's very good on the ground and he's improving with each fight. But he hasn’t seen anything like me yet,” said Miocic, in an interview with the UFC’s official website.

The Croatian descendant has no problem being called into combat at such short notice. “I'm super excited about this chance and I'm going to show everyone that I deserved the chance when I bring the belt back to Cleveland. I feel good, I’m ready for it,” he added.

Miocic, who is coming off two consecutive victories (over Mark Hunt e Andrei Arlovski) challenges Werdum in the main fight of UFC 196, an event that will take place on February 6, in Las Vegas, in the United States.
