Even though the UFC confirmed that the first title defense of Holly holm will be against Miesha Tate, the former holder of the title, Ronda Rousey, did not give up on plans to face his tormentor. The North American, who rejected a rematch at UFC 200 in July, assured that she will make the long-awaited fight later this year.

Holm surprisingly defeated Rousey in November, at UFC 193, with a beautiful knockout in the second round. Initially, the organization's president, Dana White, confirmed that an immediate rematch would be the logical step. However, Ronda claimed to have film commitments in the first half of this year, which makes it impossible for her to participate in UFC 200.

The fighter, however, said that the desire for a rematch is still very much alive. “That’s all I want most. It will happen at some point later this year. They still haven't told me the date or place. It's a decision we will all make together. I'm kind of waiting to hear from them what options they have for me”, explained Ronda, in an interview with the North American website “TMZ Sports”.

Meanwhile, Holm will defend her first belt on March 5, in the co-main fight of UFC 197. Her opponent, Tate, has already been defeated twice by Ronda.
