In his last title defenses, the welterweight champion Robbie Lawler he had some of the most exciting fights in recent years in Ultimate. Now, however, Lawler has no opponent in his sights and a name emerges as a no less exciting option: Nick Diaz, who recently had his sentence suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission. And the idea of Diaz as a challenger pleased President Dana White.

The situation for fighters, however, is very different today. While Lawler is the holder of the 77 kg title and is on a five-fight winning streak, Diaz is on two defeats and a no-contest fight (in which he was defeated by Anderson Silva, but the result was reversed after the Brazilian was caught taking an anti-doping test).
