Recently, the new UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold caused an uproar declare that he “doesn’t respect” the heavyweight title holder Fabricio Werdum and that he would “easily beat him” in a fight. Werdum's response, however, came in kind and “Vai Cavalo” spared no criticism of the disaffection in his reply.

“Anyone who knows people in the fighting world knows that I'm not arrogant at all. He's very 'arrogant'. He said he would fight me, right? The problem is that I only fight men, I don't fight chickens. There's no way you can fight a chicken, you can't. He should ask Velasquez if he has what it takes to face me,” said Werdum, citing Rockhold’s training partner and his next opponent in the Octagon, in an interview with the “Combat” channel’s website.

Furthermore, the Brazilian also revealed that the feud with Luke has been going on for a long time and reported an episode between them after his victory over Velasquez, in June last year. “I don't know what happened, but, in reality, I never liked Rockhold, I don't like people who think they are. If you're the man, you don't need to show it to others. He has a high nose. I never spoke much to him. When I faced Velásquez, he talked some shit before the fight. After I won, I walked past him, tapped my belt and said: 'Where's the fake belt?'. And he just said 'good job,'” he said.

At 38, Fabricio Werdum has a professional record of 20 wins, five losses and one draw in MMA. “Vai Cavalo”, as he is known, gained fame in world MMA for becoming the first athlete to beat Fedor Emelianenko in almost a decade, finishing the Russian in the now defunct Strikeforce. But the peak of the Gaucho's career came in the UFC, first with winning the interim heavyweight title and, later, with the unification of the belts, after finishing Cain Velazquez. The American of Mexican descent, in fact, is his next opponent, at UFC 196, in February.
