Alex Poatan will have his second opportunity in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg) against Sergei Pavlovich at UFC 335, scheduled for December 12th in Las Vegas, United States. The Brazilian is looking for another important step in the new category, but the matchup hasn't pleased everyone.
In a video published on his YouTube channel and made available this Sunday (4), Renato Moicano analyzed Poatan's next challenge and presented an alternative that, in his view, could be even more interesting for the Brazilian. The American Top Team fighter also highlighted the potential of the possible fight.

“I agree with the editor, he was saying that this fight should be between Poatan and Paulo Borrachinha , and I couldn't agree more. I think if they had Poatan and Borrachinha at 93 kg, it would be better than Pavlovich at UFC 335; it would be pure trash talking,” said Moicano.
The suggestion would pit Alex Poatan against Paulo Borrachinha again in the light heavyweight division (up to 93 kg). Glover Teixeira 's training partner has already been champion in the category and is currently looking to solidify his name among the heavyweights, while a duel with Borrachinha could ignite a rivalry between two of the main Brazilian names in the UFC.

Alex Poatan 's first experience in the heavyweight division took place at UFC Casa Branca on June 14, 2026. On that occasion, the Brazilian faced Ciryl Gane for the interim title in the category, but ended up being defeated by technical knockout in the second round, after a series of blows from the Frenchman.
Despite the negative result, Poatan showed confidence in adapting to the new weight and reinforced that the goal of winning a third title remains alive. Before moving up to heavyweight, the Brazilian built a historic career in the UFC, quickly winning the middleweight (up to 83,9 kg) and light heavyweight titles, in addition to starring in great rivalries against names like Israel Adesanya and Jiri Prochazka.
