On a collision course with prospect Payton Talbott as part of the UFC 332 card this Saturday (3), Deiveson Figueiredo seeks to leave his bad phase behind and return to winning ways after two consecutive losses. However, even though the duel takes place in the bantamweight category (up to 61,2 kg), the Paraense's objective is to return to flyweight (up to 56,7 kg), the category in which he reached the top of the sport. In an interview during media day last Wednesday (30), he again challenged Joshua Van.
According to the former champion, the problems of reaching the lower division's limit are behind him. Furthermore, he believes that the stylistic combination with the Burmese fighter could be advantageous for him, especially given Van's striking characteristics.

“I’ve been asking the UFC (to change weight class). I guarantee I can make weight without struggling, and I want this fight against Joshua. I want to see if his boxing is as excellent as mine. If the UFC gives me this opportunity, I’ll go back there and knock him out. People want to trade blows with him. I’m a real striker and a real grappler too. If he stands in front of me and I land a punch, you can be sure he won’t use his boxing anymore. Pantoja is a great grappler, but he played the wrong game. He wanted to be a striker. Why didn’t he use his excellent jiu-jitsu?” he stated.
Deiveson Figueiredo says he very much wants to come back to flyweight and take on current champion Joshua Van
