Melk Costa is close to a new challenge in the UFC. According to 'Ag Fight' on their X (formerly Twitter), the Brazilian will have his first fight in the lightweight category (up to 70,3 kg) and will face the experienced Jared Gordon at UFC 334, scheduled for November 14th at Madison Square Garden in New York (USA).
The division change comes after Melk built a remarkable career in the featherweight division (up to 65,8 kg), where he achieved a winning streak in the UFC. The Chute Boxe fighter decided to move up a weight class after admitting that the weight cuts were wearing down his body . According to the fighter himself, preparing to make weight for the division was becoming increasingly difficult.

Melk Costa's UFC history
Melk debuted in the UFC in 2023, accepting a last-minute fight against Thiago Moisés in the lightweight division, but ended up losing. He then returned to featherweight, secured his first victory in the organization against Austin Lingo, and after suffering another defeat against Steve Garcia , strung together a streak of six consecutive wins.
During the streak, the Brazilian defeated Christian Rodriguez , Morgan Charriere , and Dan Ige , among other opponents, demonstrating versatility by securing two victories via submission, two by judges' decision, and two by knockout. This performance solidified his position as one of the fastest-rising Brazilian fighters in the UFC and guaranteed his entry into the featherweight rankings.
