Glover Teixeira revealed that he has information about the reason for the sudden illness suffered by Raoni Barcelos during UFC Vegas 121, held last Saturday (26). The Brazilian was facing Raul Rosas Jr. in the main fight of the event when he fainted in the fifth round, without having suffered any blows at that moment. According to the former UFC champion, who was part of Barcelos' team, the episode would have occurred due to swelling in the brain.

During an appearance on the Overdogs Brasil podcast, Glover stated that Barcelos underwent medical exams after the incident, which reportedly identified brain swelling. According to the former champion, the condition may have been a consequence of a head injury and caused the loss of consciousness during the fight.

"They went there, did the exams, and there was swelling in the brain, so there was a head trauma. Maybe with that swelling, the guy passed out there. Maybe it was the body's defense mechanism. Let's stop because this guy isn't going to stop. His mind was stronger than his body," said Glover Teixeira.

Glover also explained that the incident caused concern among team members precisely because it did not occur after a strike or series of strikes. According to him, initially there were doubts about whether the problem was related to the heart or some brain condition.

"It was different because it wasn't a knockout. If it had been a knockout, we'd be used to that by now, but out of nowhere we started thinking about a lot of things: was it his heart? Was it something cerebral?" concluded the former champion.
